Weekend Adventures
Here it is, Friday night! We closed the store, got home close to 9 p.m. Had an adult beverage and then ate the best pizza ever, made by James himself before we closed the store. It had been a great week. Only had one person that gave us anguish. Weird duck he was, claimed we lied to him about the bathroom code. Bathrooms are very important! We would never lie to a customer about how to access the bathroom. It turns out that with only 5 buttons to choose from, the button "5" was not where he thought it should be. Huh. Five buttons. 1-5, top to bottom. This is so ridiculous I can't even finish. Not worth the time to spend on him.
We are going to a famous restaurant featured on 'Man VS. Food". Will post again about it. Yum!

When dark things fade
What a beautiful day it was today! It started out cool, then mid-morning nice and warm. The best part of the day is the bright sunshine. When the sun shines our spirits are lifted. What dark things haunt us at night seem to fade away with the sun. We forget the problems of yesterday, at least for a while.
Then there is night. Some of those woes come forward again, but tonight the feelings of joy from the sun linger. We are happy tonight.

Working with new people is an education in itself. To clue you in, I cannot be too specific in the details within my experience, so I am purposefully being vague. We thought that we were with folks living the same lifestyle as ourselves. We thought that the words "family"and "team" which were included in our interview and entrance meeting really meant "family" and "team". Apparently those two words are not resonating with everyone in our "family/team". Some folks have too much time on their hands and have to meddle in areas which they do not work, but they complain to the manager about how I do my job.
I love my job, I respect my managers. I like the people I work with except those who are sticking their noses into places they do not belong. The managers support me in my performance, but for some reason had to pass on the complaints to me. My feelings are hurt that a colleague is no longer a "colleague" to me. Is that considered "two-faced"?

I spent a long weekend visiting my sister in Wyoming. She is the primary caretaker of our Mom. Mom has Alzheimer's. She has recently been checked into a nursing home. It is so hard to see my Momma in the nursing home. She knows she is "in a fix" as she calls it. She wants to "go home" but her house has been sold to a young family who loves the house. Dad passed away in 1989.
Since short term memory is totally gone, it is better to talk to her about things that happened in the past. We talked about days gone by, mostly good memories to lighten the mood. She seemed to think that we were at the Grange Hall sometimes. Grange meetings are a good memory so it is good that she thinks she is there.
I hate Alzheimer's.

Taking the city bus downtown is very entertaining. The first time we went, I was scared, but nothing scary happened. Today was the 3rd trip and I am enjoying it. The people on the bus are very courteous and colorful.
We walked more of the River Walk (San Antonio) and saw much beauty along the way. Ate at Mad Dog's, British Pub. Had beer, fish and chips, and a Long Island Iced Tea for dessert! They were on sale today, what can I say? Good thing we weren't driving! Bus ride home was great. Another beautiful day in Texas!!

I love my job
Today I met more interesting people than usual. One was a retired career Air Force gentleman. He loved to tell his stories with jokes interspersed so much that sometimes I didn't know when he was serious or joking! He'd let me know, though, when he saw "the look" in my eyes. He'd say "I'll spare you the trouble" and then I knew he was being funny again. Then there were the two sisters on a car trip without their husbands. They were hilarious! One was all over my colleagues regarding shopping, the other recanting her story of Scotty's Castle in Death Valley. Scotty's Castle is now on my list of places to visit. Never heard of it before. Other visits were with work campers on their way to their winter home, and local Texans with time to spare. I love my job.

James and Zoe's New Adventure
Everyday is a new adventure! We started a blog site in 2008 to document our new adventure in RV full-timing. We had almost a week of bliss. Then it rained heavily in Rapid City and at 3 o'clock a.m., our left back tire fell into a sink hole at the RV park we were in. I can go into that story in greater detail later. It seems like that was the beginning of a downward spiral. The market tanked. The RV industry tanked. Our dreams tanked. But, we survived and now we are living our dream. Living our dream. Living Our Dream. LIVING OUR DREAM!!!
