When dark things fade

What a beautiful day it was today!  It started out cool, then mid-morning nice and warm.  The best part of the day is the bright sunshine.  When the sun shines our spirits are lifted.  What dark things haunt us at night seem to fade away with the sun.  We forget the problems of yesterday, at least for a while.
Then there is night.  Some of those woes come forward again, but tonight the feelings of joy from the sun linger.  We are happy tonight.

Working with new people is an education in itself.  To clue you in, I cannot be too specific in the details within my experience, so I am purposefully being vague.  We thought that we were with folks living the same lifestyle as ourselves.  We thought that the words "family"and "team" which were included in our interview and entrance meeting really meant "family" and "team".  Apparently those two words are not resonating with everyone in our "family/team".  Some folks have too much time on their hands and have to meddle in areas which they do not work, but they complain to the manager about how I do my job.
I love my job, I respect my managers.  I like the people I work with except those who are sticking their noses into places they do not belong.   The managers support me in my performance, but for some reason had to pass on the complaints to me.  My feelings are hurt that a colleague is no longer a "colleague" to me.  Is that considered "two-faced"?

I spent a long weekend visiting my sister in Wyoming.  She is the primary caretaker of our Mom.  Mom has Alzheimer's.  She has recently been checked into a nursing home.  It is so hard to see my Momma in the nursing home.  She knows she is "in a fix" as she calls it.  She wants to "go home" but her house has been sold to a young family who loves the house.  Dad passed away in 1989.
Since short term memory is totally gone, it is better to talk to her about things that happened in the past.  We talked about days gone by, mostly good memories to lighten the mood.  She seemed to think that we were at the Grange Hall sometimes.  Grange meetings are a good memory so it is good that she thinks she is there.
I hate Alzheimer's.
